Description

The Pietta® 1860 Snub Nose Army Engraved Revolver is a modified version of the original 1860 Army revolver. Trimmed down to feature a short barrel this variation provides a smaller profile and lighter-weight option for easier transportation and carry.

This model features the same classic .44 caliber design with a fluted cylinder and shorter 3 inch barrel. A unique feature of the snub nose is the removed loading lever that typically comes on the full size 1860 Army revolvers. To mitigate for the removed loading lever a brass loading tool comes included with the revolver.

To provide a beautiful and authentic looking finish Pietta® has blued the barrel as well as case hardening the frame, backstrap and trigger guard.

Beautiful, Love it

Brand new to cap and ball. Haven't fired her yet in bp and actually already converted it to 22lr only because I cannot find .45 drop in cylinders anywhere for this model. My ultimate goal was to convert it in first place so I can't speak to black powder functions but she's great so far with 22 conversion. I follow the duelist on youtube and he mentions rough/sharp edges and burrs throughout the piece. I've definitely run into some of those sharp corners and had to stone them down a bit. But other than that she is flawless.

Pietta's 1860 Army already a beautiful Black Powder revolver turned into a masterpiece with the stub-nose version! Fit and finish is great!

Beautiful, but rough around the edges

Firearm’s functionality is perfect. Trigger pull is almost to light at 1.7 pounds on my trigger gauge. Sights are not that bad. Point of impact is 2 inches low and 1/2 inch to the right of point of aim (10 yards). Purchased an additional cylinder (unfluted) which fit and finish is better than the original fluted cylinder. There are numerous cosmic flaws and sharp edges which could have used a little more machining time. Had to use an Emory board to smooth out areas on the hammer and frame. The case hardening is flawless, simply a piece of art. The blueing is excellent as well. The nipples on both cylinders are so tight that I striped one nipple wrench and am waiting a replacement before I can try again to remove them. Overall, I would recommend this firearm, but be prepared to have some finishing/smoothing work to do. I would also recommend purchasing an extra cylinder as the original, although functional, has scratches in ever flute where rust has taken hold. The replacement cylinder is engraved and flawless. All around, it’s a fun gun.
