Traditions Trapper™ Pistol Kit - Flintlock - KPC50902

The Traditions™ Trapper Flintlock Pistol Kit is styled after the single-barreled pistol proudly carried by early mountain men, trappers and traders as their weapon of choice. These pistols proved to be extremely reliable. That same reliability was essential for a trapper who might have to stake his life on his pistol’s ability to provide a back-up shot in what could be a dire situation.

Description

Traditions™ Trapper Pistol Flintlock Kit is for those do-it-yourself hunters or shooters who want to gain a true hands-on experience by building a pistol themselves. Easy to read instructions guide you through the building process to a beautifully finished product.

The Trapper pistol’s primitive-style adjustable rear sight, octagonal barrel and double set triggers, capable of firing set or unset, allow the shooter to predictably put his shots on target. The Traditions™ Trapper Pistol is a .50 caliber flintlock model with a 9.75" octagon barrel and handsome select hardwood stock. The Trapper is patently compact and easy to maneuver at only 15.5" in length. The pistol requires 5/8” hand knapped flint (flint sold separately).

There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than knowing you built a fully functional pistol for shooting or display. Relish stepping back into the past by building a Traditions™ Trapper Flintlock Pistol yourself.

First time in the field firing and hitting targets

The kit was delivered sooner then expected , all the parts were in the kit . As described in the paperwork that came with the kit . I went over all instructions at least two times ( more then two) , and I started fitting it together one part at a time , noting the parts that were hard to fit and stopping to make rough fitting modifications , sand paper , and a sharp blade, and small files , flat , triangle , and they must be of fine cutting ability , one that I really found handy was a carpenter hand rasp , flat on one side and curved on the other , w/ two differant size bites , and make sure that all the parts are snugly fit together (all) parts must be able to go together without struggling to hard , I suggest take it apart and put it together several times before starting to do any finishing , it should go together with ease, at this point , you can start the finish steps , one more thing , remember the wood will gain thickness when finishing , so bear this in mind , when finely assembling it will be a tight fit !! Go slow at this time and make very small miner wood removal , I took my pistol out today and was so pleased , I now am convinced that I must make one more to have a match set of these Wonderfull replicas of our history past and thanks to the people who put this kit out there , by the way this was my first , but not last kit , at 61 years I can’t believe I’ve never built one sooner ?

Fun to make

Fun to make and entering. There is some wood removal and metal filing
All were expected per well written instructions.

The breakdown picture is so tiny, I used the one on the website.
Can't wait for Spring to shoot it. Keep you posted.
