Description

The Traditions® Vortek StrikerFire™ VAPR™ Muzzleloader Rifle takes in-line muzzleloaders to the next level by removing the need for an external hammer and replacing it with an internal StrikerFire™ System. The StrikerFire works on the same principle as modern center-fire rifle safeties. To cock the gun, simply slide the striker button forward until it locks, then fire. The recessed de-cocking button allows for quick and quiet de-cocking of the firearm. The gun also comes equipped with an automatic de-cocking mechanism, so when the gun is opened, it is automatically de-cocked. By eliminating the external hammer you get faster lock times, plus the ability to mount your scope closer to the bore allows the gun to operate with less weight.

Traditions™ equipped the StrikerFire™ with some additional features. The StrikerFire™ is outfitted with a two-stage trigger that is set at 3 pounds and is creep free. The innovative stock design makes the rifle lighter than any other rifle in its class while still maintaining maximum strength and durability. The Strikerfire VAPR™ model comes with a 1:24" fast twist barrel which is designed to properly stabilize modern high-BC muzzleloading bullets.

The StrikerFire™ also features a premium CeraKote™ finish, Realtree™ Edge Camo stock, one-piece Accelerator Breech Plug™ that allows you to fire both loose or pelletized powder without changing the breech plug, a Dual Safety System, and Speed Load System that enables easier loading and more consistent groupings.

Compromise on price not performance

This muzzleloader is loaded with great options that come at a decent price point. The synthetic stock and nitride coating ensure resistance to weather. It is light and easy to shoulder. This muzzleloader is extremely accurate. I used B.O.R lock 275 gr and Hornady FTX 290 gr with Traditions peep site. I use 100 gr by volume (83 gr by weight average) of Hodgdon Triple Seven FFG. 1.5” groups at 100 yards repeatedly. The striker fire system is simple and quiet. Shot my deer at 75 yards. This is a great deal for the price.

Disappointed

This was my first inline 209 muzzleloader. I purchased it last year. I've put less than a dozen rounds through this rifle. After 2 shots, the action gets fouled up and it's almost impossible to open to remove the spent primer. I remove the breach plug and clean everything. I go to shoot round #3 and the striker slide will not engage. I fought with it for a while and was able to get the striker to engage. I take the shot, and once again, the action was extremely difficult to open. I went home, took the gun apart and gave it a deep cleaning. I've taken the gun to the range 3 times and had the exact same results every time. I do not trust the Traditions Vortek Strikerfire and I will be getting rid of it very soon. I love my Investarms Gemmer Hawken Plains Rifle and will be hunting with it again this season.
