Description

The CVA™ Optima LR Scope Package comes with a mounted and bore-sighted 3-9x40mm Muzzle-Loaders.com™ Duplex Muzzleloader Scope and Muzzle-Loaders.com 48" soft rifle case. The Muzzle-Loaders.com™ scope is specifically designed for modern muzzleloaders. This scope is built to withstand the impact of today’s high-powered black powder rifles. The 3-9x40mm duplex reticle is unbreakable and the multi-coated optics are clear and bright. Each scope is covered by our lifetime warranty, giving you years of quality performance at a great value.

The CVA™ Optima V2 LR with a Nitride/Cerakote Barrel is the newest addition to CVA’s family of premium muzzleloading rifles. The Long Range Optima™ features a 28" Cerakote™ Patriot Brown Nitride treated steel barrel. Sharing its name with its popular predecessor, the new Optima™ V2 has been redesigned with more quality features than any muzzleloader rifle in its price range. Modeled after CVA’s top-of-the-line Accura V2 LR, the Optima V2 LR features the same trigger-guard with actuated breeching lever, internal parts, and neutral center-of-gravity trigger. The Optima LR also features CVA’s Quick-Release Breech Plug (QRBP), which is easily removed with your fingers, NO tools required. The Optima V2 LR's 100% ambidextrous stock, and CrushZone recoil pad makes this gun one of the most comfortable you will ever shoot.

Equipped with a 28” stainless steel Cerakote/Nitride fluted barrel, the CVA™ Optima V2 Long Range Rifle is easy to maneuver in the tree stand or in tight spots, and comfortable to carry in the mountains. The Optima LR comes standard with a DuraSight® DEAD-ON™ one-piece scope mount and CVA’s solid aluminum PalmSaver Ramrod. When compared to its competitors, the Optima LR includes many new features you won’t find anywhere else for a great price.

The CVA™ Optima V2 LR Thumbhole Rifle features a Nitride/Cerakote treated 416 Steel barrel, making it the closest thing to a “corrosion-proof” muzzleloader that has ever been developed. The Nitride finish technology, known as Salt Bath Nitride, is used to treat the barrel and offers exceptional wear resistance, unparalleled corrosion resistance in a scratch-resistant, uniform black color. Already available in military applications, the nitride process hardens the outer layer of steel, making it both more durable and corrosion-resistant than chrome, which was previously the highest standard in bore toughening techniques. Unlike exterior ceramic coatings, the nitride process penetrates both the inside and outside of the barrel, and can withstand thousands of shots. Best of all, Nitride is self-lubricating, thus eliminating the need to add oil to your rifle for an increase in muzzleloader velocities and greater ease in reloading follow-up shots.

Good setup straight out the box.

I love this rifle. It is heavy with a good recoil pad so you don’t feel hardly any recoil even with heavier loads. Quality of the rifle is very good, breech plug easy to remove and clean, barrel is easy to clean once the breech plug is removed, trigger pull is smooth! The Genesis optic is nice and has been working well. Overall, I am very happy with this rifle and optic.

Overall great gun.

Things I like:
The gun arrived well packaged and is a beautiful gun. It loads, shoots, and cleans up quite easily using black horn 209 and I'm either really used to shooting higher recoil firearms or the recoil pad does a great job at soaking up any uncomfortable recoil. It is a pleasure to shoot with 90grs of black horn and the trigger is probably one of the best I've experienced. Wasn't sure how I would like the thumbhole stock, but I like it for the range and hunting so far.

Things I didn't care for:
Gun: The ramrod isn't threaded to accept cleaning jags. Mine also did not come with the cleaning jag or palm saver. The ram rod did not sit right as set up and the end is all scratched up from removing it. The barrel attachments that hold it in place came off the first time I removed the ram rod, and have fallen off again since then.
Soft Case: The zipper failed after the first or second use.
Scope: I shot a deer with it, and it does the job, but I definitely prefer my $100 Sig Sauer scope and will probably swap the Genesis one with that one when I have the time to resight it. The bore sight as delivered was more or less dead on at 50 yds, so sighting the gun in out to 100 yds was easy.

Overall: I would probably go with the gun alone and build it up with my choice of scope and buy a hard case. If you need something that is bore sighted and mounted due to time restraints then it will get the job done just fine.
