The CVA™ Optima XP Muzzleloader Rifle is CVA’s modernized version on their top-selling muzzleloader line. This new rendition shares many of the great features of the Optima V2 model with some significant upgrades. Built around a familiar CVA action, it maintains the reliability and accuracy the Optima line is known for while introducing a modular stock system. The new CVA™ Optima XP Rifle has a completely re-engineered butt stock. The new rear stock is completely modular. Equipped with a stock that provides an adjustable Length of Pull from 11” to 14” to accommodate different shooting positions and body types. Bolt on cheek risers enhance the shooting experience by allowing proper eye relief alignment and ensuring a consistent sight picture. The Mil-Spec buffer tube allows for the user to swap out their favorite compatible buttstock to provide a more customizable shooting platform, further modernizing the muzzleloading experience.

One of the mainstay features to the CVA™ Optima XP is the actuated breeching lever which has been integrated into the trigger guard. This breeching lever makes opening the breech significantly easier when cleaning the gun. It also eliminates the chances of a breeching button becoming stuck or broken in the field. In addition, the Optima XP muzzleloader comes with the same upgraded trigger seen on the V2 models. The Optima XP features a neutral center-of-gravity trigger system, that is both crisp and clean breaking. This trigger allows the shooter to maintain better down-range accuracy and precision with every shot.

For ease of use, especially for maintenance and cleaning, the Optima XP has been outfitted with CVA’s patented Quick Release Breech Plug (QRBP). This breech plug design allows for the removal of the breech plug by hand, absolutely no tools required. Not only does this save time during cleaning, but also it allows for quick access to the rear of the barrel in the field when you may not have a wrench on hand.

The CVA™ Optima Rifle features a Nitride-treated black 26” barrel, making it the closest thing to a “corrosion-proof” muzzleloader that has ever been developed. The Nitride finish technology, known as Salt Bath Nitride, is used to treat the barrel and offers exceptional wear resistance, unparalleled corrosion resistance in a scratch resistant, uniform black color. Already available in military applications, the nitride process hardens the outer layer of steel, making it both more durable and corrosion-resistant than chrome, which was previously the highest standard in bore-toughening techniques. Unlike exterior ceramic coatings, the nitride process penetrates both the inside and outside of the barrel, and can withstand thousands of shots. Best of all, Nitride is self-lubricating, thus eliminating the need to add oil to your rifle for an increase in muzzleloader velocities and greater ease in reloading follow-up shots. This rifle features a 1:28 rate of twist that is ideally suited to shoot belted or modern conical bullets.
