Left Hand Investarm™ Bridger Hawken Rifle - .50 Cal Percussion - IA2210

The earliest known record of a Hawken rifle dates back to 1823 when one was custom made for William Henry Ashley, a gun powder manufacturer turned fur trader, who used it in his expeditions up the Missouri river to the interior of the Western United States. These parties included Jim Bridger and many other explorers who would later become famous mountain men. For the next 20 years, Bridger repeatedly traversed the continental interior between the US and border and the southern boundary of present-day Colorado, and from the Missouri River westward, always with his hawken rifle by his side.

Description

Jim Bridger carried the Hawken rifle as he traversed the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains of the western interior. In fact, a number of famous trappers and explorers owned Hawken rifles, including Auguste Lacome, Hugh Glass, Kit Carson, Joseph Meek, Jedediah Smith and Theodore Roosevelt. The rifle was the pinnacle of the modern percussion firearms development of the mid-nineteenth century. Originally designed and built by such famous makers as Hawken, Gemmer & Demick, the Hawken Rifle represents durable design in a big bore caliber with plenty of knockdown power. No other factory assembled rifle offers the authentic style and design of Investarm's Bridger Hawken Rifle.

The Hawken rifle was originally produced by brothers Jacob and Samuel Hawken, in their St. Louis, Missouri shop founded in 1815.

This Left-Handed Bridger Hawken Rifle offers high-quality features such as a 28" barrel with 1 in 48" twist rate for patched ball hunting loads, double set triggers and Hawken style percussion "snail" with clean out screw. The rifle includes a separate ramrod entry thimble and nose cap, and reliable coil spring lock with correct lock plate. The Investarm™ Bridger Hawken Rifle is available in .45 to .54 caliber and flintlock or percussion configurations. The Investarm Bridger Hawken Rifle is an attractive, traditional muzzleloader that is rugged, well built and meant to last a lifetime.

Better shooter than I am

I received my left-hand Bridger Hawken .50 caliber a few months back. This is my first adventure in black powder firearms, and I must say I am hooked. I have already used this rifle in several competitions, and it is far more accurate than my capabilities. I did a ton of research regarding the best options for a new muzzleloader, and this Investarms Bridger Hawken exceeded every recommendation. The fit and finish is well done. The stock is beautifully grained, and the brass accessories make for a great look. The trigger does have a bit of take-up but I got used to it quite quickly and it does not affect accuracy. The rear sight appears to be polymer or plastic, and I would rather see something closer to an authentic set up. I am impressed with the staff at Muzzle-loaders.com. They helped me place the order and ensured I had all accessories I needed to start my new adventure. Thank you for the excellent experience.

Bridger Hawken - Very Satisfied

Very pleasant experience with Muzzle-Loaders.com and love the rifle. Delivery was fast, and well packaged. Rifle in excellent condition. One turn on screw in between the two triggers and I had a hair trigger pull on the front trigger - as expected the rear or set trigger is much harder to pull. I was able to sight in the rifle (25 yards) in six shots. As much as I like my Kentucky flintlock I’m liking this better….😁

Love it, but....

I love the gun and the only reason I give it 4 stars is because, like many of the Italian imports, it required some tuning to get it right. I had to deepen the lock inlet to get a good hammer fall on the nipple. The set trigger and front trigger needed adjusting but the adjustment screw on the front trigger is too short to be useful and I had to replace it with a longer screw. It takes a rather hard to find metric M2.6/.45 thread pitch at least 7mm long. It shoots very well, looks great and I am loving it.

Very Poor trigger

The gun is absolutely beautiful but unfortunately that's all it is. The triggers are the worst I have ever seen and I have been shooting hawken rifles for over 25 years. The best I can get the set trigger is well over 12 pounds and it is a very long and hard pull. The firing trigger can be set to a reasonable weight but still way to heavy to what it should be and way to much travel before firing. If you want a safe queen or wall hanger you can't go wrong but I will never hunt with mine do to the triggers.
