Description

The 1862 Spiller & Burr is a Confederate production revolver designed to supply the Confederate cavalry. However, due to the South's limited production capacity during the Civil War only about 1500 pistols were ever produced. This revolver is a unique piece that features shared design features of the Remington and Colt revolvers from the mid 1800's.

This Pietta reproduction is a beautiful piece that is fully functional and enjoyable to shoot. The .36 caliber cylinder and barrel provide lower recoil than other similar .44 caliber pistols making it a more comfortable gun to shoot. Add a unique pistol to your collection with the Pietta 1862 Spiller & Burr Revolver.

Very good build quality, although tolerances are a bit tight

I was quite impressed with the build quality of this revolver, however, the tolerances between the cylinder and the frame are so tight that cocking the hammer back requires quite a bit of effort. At first, I thought the hammer spring was the issue, but upon further inspection, I realized that the spacing between the cylinder and the frame is extremely tight. I am still rating this pistol at 5 stars, because I have faith that I can easily resolve the cocking issue. I have had brass framed revolvers before, so I know everything will loosen up after firing it a few times. I may use some graphite in that area to free things up initially. This is a very beautiful pistol, and I hope to have a lot of fun with it on the firing range.

      Pretty Piece

One of Pietta's better offerings. Getting very hard to find, though. Wood grips very nicely fitted, and the action is one of the best I have seen from Pietta, right out of the box. Loading lever/cylinder pin piece is annoying to replace, and cylinder is rough installing, but do able. Well worth the money.
