Description

The CVA™ Paramount Muzzleloader is the latest long-range muzzleloader from CVA. This gun is packed full of premium features to ensure great accuracy, high velocity, and a comfortable feel, ensuring success at ranges further than any other black powder muzzleloader. The CVA™ Paramount features a fast-twist .45 caliber Bergara™ barrel, VariFlame™ ignition system, Bergara™ HMR stock, a proprietary action, as well as an all-new ELR™ bullet that was designed specifically for this muzzleloader. With all of these features, the Paramount will provide sub-MOA accuracy past 300 yards, with a bullet that is leaving the muzzle at over 2,200 fps. If you’re looking for a long-range muzzleloader, the Paramount is the gun for you.

For the last several years, the Bergara barrels on the CVA™ Accura V2 line have been known as some of the most accurate muzzleloading barrels on the market. The CVA™ Paramount features a .45 caliber, 26-inch threaded Nitride-treated Bergara barrel, which is manufactured from 416 stainless steel. The threaded end is compatible with the CVA Paramount .45 caliber muzzle brake. With the high velocities of the Paramount, a longer, heavier high ballistic coefficient bullet, a faster twist rate was needed to stabilize the PowerBelt ELR bullet. The Paramount barrel features a 1:22” twist rate, which has resulted in accuracy of well under MOA groupings out past 300 yards. Additionally, the Paramount Bergara barrel features a bullet guiding muzzle and interrupted fluting for weight and heat dispersion.

The CVA™ Paramount features the VariFlame ignition system for a faster, hotter, and more consistent powder burn. While most muzzleloaders use 209 primers, the VariFlame System in the Paramount allows for the use of Large Rifle Primers. With the VariFlame™ Ignition, the Paramount is capable of burning 160 grains of Blackhorn 209 by volume (112 grains by weight) with the PowerBelt ELR 280gr bullet leaving the muzzle at over 2,200 fps. Included with the Paramount is a special tool that will allow you to remove spent primers from the VariFlame adapters, so you can reuse the adapters multiple times over. With the initial rifle purchase, each customer will receive a pack of VariFlame™ Adapters, as well as the VariFlame™ re-priming tool.

One of the most aesthetically appealing features of the CVA™ Paramount is the Bergara HMR stock. This stock not only looks nice, but also has all the features that a serious long-range shooter will need. There is an aluminum mini chassis that runs from the hand grip, all the way to the fore end, which provides for excellent rigidity and better support to the Paramount action. Because of the strength and rigidity of the aluminum internal chassis, the CVA Paramount features a fully free-floated barrel, which results in better accuracy. Additionally, the HMR stock offers easy adjustments for both length of pull, as well as the cheek height. The floor plate in this stock has a container for holding four VariFlame™ adapters for easy and quick access. Up front, the HMR stock features two swivel studs for the ability to easily attach both a bipod and sling with conventional studs. On both sides of this stock, there are also flush-cup sling swivel mounts, which is a newer way of mounting slings that has proven to be more comfortable when carrying heavier guns.

One of the first things that most people notice on the Paramount® is the lack of a ramrod. Because of the free-floated barrel, CVA designed a quick-deployable ramrod, that is stored in a Molle pouch on either your sling or belt. This unique design allows for quick reloading in the field, but also compact and easy storage. The quick-deployable ramrod is not used for cleaning, so the Paramount will also ship with a solid aluminum ramrod and Palmsaver™ handle.

The CVA™ Paramount action is one of the more unique features of this muzzleloader. To create a tight seal to the VariFlame™ breech plug, CVA has designed and patented a unique bolt assembly. This new self-headspacing bolt is spring-loaded, which allows for a tight seal to the VariFlame adapters every time, to eliminate blowback. Additionally, this new bolt assembly comes apart without any tools and is incredibly easy to clean. The Paramount action is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, with a Remington 700 pattern, so mounts are easy to find. While the CVA™ Paramount looks like a standard bolt action rifle, the action is very different and is not able to be converted to any centerfire gun, which allows this gun to be purchased without a 4473 in most states.

To make the Paramount® muzzleloader a success, CVA teamed up with Michael McMichaels of PowerBelt™ Bullets to create an all-new bullet for this gun. Wanting a higher ballistic coefficient than previously offered, they created the PowerBelt ELR (Extended Long-Range) bullet. This 280 grain bullet offers a BC of .452, which is considerably higher than other projectiles on the market. With the 1:22” twist rate, 140 grains of Blackhorn 209, and the Bergara barrel on the CVA Paramount, accuracy has resulted in under 1 MOA at 300 yards. Most muzzleloaders on the market today drop between 13 and 18 inches between 100 and 200 yards. The Paramount system, with the better bullets and velocities, has proven to drop only 18 inches between 200 and 300 yards, which is unheard of in muzzleloading. Not only does the PowerBelt ELR shoot great groupings, but this bullet will also be great for deer and elk sized game at extended ranges.

In summary, the CVA™ Paramount muzzleloader is a high-performance muzzleloader that will reach out past 300 yards. With the unveiling of this gun, CVA has shown that they are serious about investing in the muzzleloading market and giving the customers exactly what they’re looking for. The Paramount will ship with 15 PowerBelt™ ELR bullets, 10 VariFlame™ adapters, a VariFlame™ re-priming tool, breech plug wrench, fast-deploying ramrod, solid aluminum cleaning rod, and a Quake Sling with flush-cup mounts. Additionally, if you would like a custom scope mount package that is mounted and bore-sighted by our team, please reach out to our customer service department for more details.

A true heavy hitting magnum muzzleloader

I have had my Paramount for a year now. My experience with the 280gr ELR bullet is excellent. 2" 3 shot groups at 200yds. My rifle has a little attitude, the 1st shot of the day must be 150gr vol ( I weight my charges that's 112.0gr when I averaged 20 volume charges) load followed every 10 minutes by 140gr vol (102.5gr weighed) loads. This produces tight groups. Barrel must be completely cool, 10-15 minutes between shots. If my first shot is a 140gr vol (102.5 weighed) the impact is 2" low & 2" right at 100yds. The full power first shot load has solved that problem. 1" groups +\- are the normal. Awesome muzzleloader & fun to shoot.
