Awesome gift!

My husband has wanted a Hawkins gun kit for as long as I can remember. I bought this for his birthday and couldn't be happier!! He absolutely loves it. He has been working on it for about a week and is almost done. This is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that will be in our family for a long time! I highly recommend!

Beautiful gun

I had been wanting one of these for awhile, and when Muzzleloader.com had it at a great price I had to get it. Still a build in progress but so far everything has been pretty easy. Have to get the wood shavings out and dry fit but that is part of the fun. Definitely a great buy and I am sure it will shoot great.

St Louis hawken kit

To this was my third kit, a blunderbuss and a trapper pistol came before it. It took a little longer to put together but well worth the time and so enjoyed it. I like being able to put my gun together and have wanted a hawken rifle for a while. The price was good and it is a great gun to shoot. I have 2 inlines for different hunting scenarios but this one will be my grab n go - hiking, hunting partner. Along side my trapper pistol they look like a set

Fun to build, fun to shoot

I bought this kit so I could donate it to a gun rights group fundraiser raffle. Also bought/built one of my own a couple of years ago. It was fun to build, and is fun to shoot. A word of caution, though-- It's not a kit that you can just slap together. A certain amount of fitting and finishing is required. If you are not a patient person, the completed rifle is not that much more expensive, as another reviewer pointed out.

I wanted a Hawkens, just like Jeramiah Johnson’s since I was a kid. The kit was affordable, however I was apprehensive about putting it together. After watching a lot of utube and reading the coments, which was very very helpful. It seemed like 20 minutes with no gaps, splitting, or stripping of screws.(it took about 2 1/2 hours). Very pleased with the results, I can use the plastic sites as templates to make metal ones. I still need to blue and stain, not worried about that.
