Description

The Northwest Traditions® Pursuit™ VAPR XT Muzzleloader gives you a quality, ultra-light, feature-packed muzzleloader at an affordable price. Slim-lined for greater maneuverability, the Pursuit™ VAPR XT comes with a wider fore-end to allow a tight grip and ideal hand positioning when shouldering the rifle. With integrated grips and wider fore-stock, this rifle will stay firm in your hands in the harshest weather conditions. A slimmer receiver conceals the hinge pin giving the rifle a crisp, streamlined look and feel.

This Northwest Legal Muzzleloader uses a musket cap ignition system that is only required in Idaho and Oregon. Weighing in at just 5 ½ pounds, the rifle’s tapered 26" Ultralight barrel paired with the LT-1 Alloy frame allows for a balanced feel and an exceptionally lightweight platform. The durable, Cerakote® coating on barrel and action makes the barrel 50% more corrosion resistant than stainless steel, adding to the longevity of your rifle.

The easy to use, break-action Muzzleloader opens with a fast-action release button, and uses the NW Accelerator Breech Plug that allows breech access with just three twists of the hand, requiring no tool. The Pursuit™ VAPR XT features a Speed Load System for easy bullet starting and more consistent groups, plus the Dual Safety System of internal hammer block safety and trigger block safety makes the G4 one of the safest rifles on the market.

The Pursuit™ G4 features a Quick-T™ Ramrod Handle that functions like a Palm Saver and T-Handle all in one, making it easier and more comfortable to load your rifle. The Quick-T™ Ramrod Handle simply screws on the end of your ramrod, allowing easier cleaning and loading of your muzzleloader. When not in use, the Quick-T™ simply slides on your ramrod for convenient storage.

The Pursuit VAPR™ XT muzzleloader comes with a 1:24" fast twist barrel that is engineered to properly stabilize the high BC muzzleloading bullets used by many shooters today. Traditions™ Pursuit™ VAPR XT comes complete with Williams Fiber Optic Sights and sling swivel studs. For the best value in black powder rifles, the Pursuit of bargain excellence definitely starts here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Northwest Legal Muzzleloader uses a musket cap ignition system that is only required in Idaho and Oregon. If you are hunting in any other state we recommend purchasing a non-Northwest Legal muzzleloader.

Good First Time Muzzleloader

Really nice rifle with good features. Shoots great. I only have a couple minor complaints. First, the ramrod is useless if you need a quick follow up shot. Having to dig the extention out and screw it on is ridiculous. Second, if you need new nipples, good luck. Depending on where the gun was manufactured, it appears to have a couple different thread sizes. And, it's possible to find either but, neither is common enough to just go buy them. Other than those issues, I would buy this rifle again.

Shoots OK, Poor Design

Purchased a new inline this year as my son is now using my TC. I shopped around online and the good folks here @ Muzzle_Loaders were great to work with. Looking for a budget friendly inline, I narrowed it down to the Traditions Pursuit VAPR or the CVA Optima, both Northwest Ignition Models. I settled on the Traditions due to its lighter weight while my buddy latter went with the CVA. So here is my honest feedback now that I have experience with both.

First with my #1 complaint. The ramrod design is awful. Its too short without using the threaded extension. Unfortunately, you can not carry the rod under the barrel as designed with the extension in place. I ended up putting in in my pack (very inconvenient). Quick reloads when hunting can be very common and couldn't see threading that thing on and off every time I needed to load. Very poor design. I did Prefer my friends CVA ramrod design over this one.

It is lighter weight compared to the CVA making it nicer to pack around. Shootablity was also comparable to the CVA. I was hoping for tighter groups @ 100yds, but found that the Traditions and CVA grouped about the same. However, neither came close to the older Thompson. All in all I Probably got what I paid for and though I have not complaints on its overall performance, I would not purchase this model again due to the practically unusable ramrod design.
