Description

The CVA™ Paramount HTR Muzzleloader is a lightweight version of the ultra-popular CVA Paramount. This HTR Muzzleloader carries over some of the most popular features of the Paramount, but with an upgraded stock design and a new caliber. The Paramount HTR in .40 caliber is the ultimate long-range muzzleloader. This gun is equally at home chasing whitetails in the Eastern US, as it is climbing the Western mountains for elk and mule deer.

The Paramount HTR features the CVA™ HTR stock, which has an adjustable comb to fit any shooter and optic choice. This comb adjustment is inset in the stock to allow for ambidextrous use, as there is no protruding knob to worry about. Adjustable stocks are gaining popularity in the shooting community due to the ability to give a shooter a proper cheek weld to the stock, whether they are using open sights or scopes with various ring heights. Additionally, the inset screw gives the Paramount HTR™ a streamlined and sleek look and feel. The CVA™ HTR stock features Realtree Hillside camo, with a Soft Touch finish for great grip in all conditions.

If it isn’t broken why fix it? Why move away from something that seems to work so well? This is the most common question we get about the introduction of the .40 caliber. After the introduction of the PowerBelt ELR bullet in 2019, muzzleloading rifles have been able to stretch their range while maintaining incredible accuracy and kinetic energy. With the addition of .40 caliber to the CVA Paramount HTR, this gun will be capable of incredibly high velocities and be able to reach out much further than its predecessor, while still maintaining high energy. With a BC on this .40 Caliber PowerBelt ELR of .360 and muzzle velocities over 2,800 feet per second, the CVA Paramount HTR in .40 cal will have the same bullet drop at 400 yards as a .300 Win Mag! This greatly extends the range of the Paramount muzzleloaders and increases terminal performance. Currently, the .40 caliber muzzleloaders are legal in most states for deer and elk, but here is a convenient map to consider the legalities in your state here.

The barrel and action on the CVA™ Paramount HTR will be the same Bergara barrel as the standard Paramount, which features a Nitride coating. The .40 caliber barrel on this muzzleloader is 26” long, with a threaded muzzle to accept the CVA Paramount Muzzle Brake, which is threaded ¾” x 20. To properly stabilize the high BC muzzleloading bullets used in this muzzleloader, the HTR features a 1:20” twist rate. The Bergara™ barrel on the Paramount HTR features interrupted fluting for lighter weight and greater heat dispersion. Just like the previous Paramount, the HTR features a free-floated barrel, which removes the under-barrel ramrod. The Paramount HTR will ship with a collapsible .40 caliber carbon-fiber ramrod.

The CVA™ Paramount HTR Muzzleloader features the patented VariFlame™ Ignition System for a faster, hotter and more consistent powder burn. While most muzzleloaders use 209 primers, the VariFlame™ System in the Paramount allows for the use of large rifle primers. With the VariFlame™ Ignition, the Paramount HTR is capable of burning 150 grains by volume (105 grains by weight) of Blackhorn 209 with the PowerBelt ELR 230 grain bullet leaving the muzzle at over 2,800 fps. Included with the Paramount HTR Rifle is a special tool that will allow you to remove spent primers from the VariFlame™ adapters so you can reuse the adapters multiple times. With the initial rifle purchase, each customer will receive a pack of VariFlame™ Adapters, as well as the VariFlame™ re-priming tool.

The CVA™ Paramount HTR muzzleloader is a high-performance muzzleloader is designed to deliver sub-MOA accuracy out past 300 yards. This new model is just what western hunters and long-range shooters are looking for in a muzzleloader. The Paramount HTR comes with 15 PowerBelt™ ELR bullets, 10 VariFlame™ adapters, a VariFlame™ re-priming tool, breech plug wrench, fast-deploying ramrod and Quake™ Claw Sling with flush-cup mounts. Additionally, if you would like a custom scope mount package that is mounted and bore-sighted by our team, please reach out to our customer service department for more details.

Paramount is the best!

I have three of these guns. 2 each in 45 and one in 40. They shoot extremely well and with the recommended load they shoot better than I can hold it. The fact that they give you the load and it actually shoots as well as they say is AWESOME! The optional brake is a must if you are recoil conscious. The triggers are good and they hit like a truck!

Awesome muzzle loader

Haven’t shot muzzle loader yet, so can’t speak on that part. I can definitely say I’ve been very impressed with quality and overall packaging of my htr. Thought it was very nice of cva to throw in all the extras. They even send a field funnel for poring in powder through muzzle brake, which you can purchase separately. Also can’t say enough good about muzzle loaders.com. They have an awesome customer service.

CVA Paramount HTR 40 cal.

I first purchased the 45 caliber paramount and I really liked it. I build and shoot long range rifles and I was really excited to be able to shoot out past five hundred yards with a Muzzleloader. Then the 40 cal. came out and I had to try it. I started out shooting groups with 100 grains thru 120 grains by weight of Blackhorn 209, in five grain increments. The 110 by weight shot the best, shooting a two inch group at 300 yards. I weighed new charges starting with 106 grains thru 114 grains in two grain increments. I shot all these loads in three shot groups at five hundred yards. The 110 grain load again shot great shooting a four inch group at five hundred yards. Then I shot the 112 grain loads. Wow, a two and a half inch group. I am very impressed. I was going to put a vortex scope on it, but now I put a nightforce nxs 5-22x50 on it, and I love the whole setup. I do have the muzzlebrake on it, and a 40 MOA picatinny rail from EGW. Weigh all your loads, don't go by volume because your loads will vary too much. I am also shoot the 225 grain ELR bullets, 112 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder, and CCI LR primers.

Great gun!

I ordered this gun because of all of distance and ballistics the technicians were getting with this gun. I hunt out west and need something with ample energy behind the bullet to take down a mature bull or mule deer. And with the potential distance factor, it’s amazing have a smoke pole that I can reach out there a ways if need be!

Excellent Choice

Purchased this muzzleloader for midwest whitetail hunting and topped it with a quality scope, base, and rings. Did a field bore sight prior to taking the first shot. Sighted in and confirmation group completed with only 6 shots using the lower recommended charge of Blackhorn 209 (98 grains by weight). The result was a sub-moa group at 100 yards with muzzle velocities slightly higher (10 fps) than reflected in the manual. This is the easiest to use muzzleloader I've owned and am excited to put it to use in the field.
