Description

Hornady Great Plains lead bullets were specially designed for hunting. Their three-diameter bearing surface makes them easy to load while ensuring a tight fit in the bore. They feature a small base diameter which makes them easy to start down the bore. Upon firing the skirt of the hollow base expands to engage the rifling and seal the bore.

Features:

  • Pre-lubed with all natural lube.
  • Designed specifically for hunting.
  • Bullets have three bearing surfaces, each a different diameter. Base is smallest for ease of loading. Middle is larger and engages the rifling. Top is the largest diameter to fit the grooves of the rifling.
  • Base has a thin skirt that expands upon firing to seal the bore.

Very surprised 1-in group at 90 yards with 70 grains of pyrodex RS I think these bullets shoot well out of traditional style muzzleloaders my CVA has a 1:66 twist I hope it'll shoot good out of a 1:48 twist I think these are good bet compared to all the new fancy copper jacketed bullets definitely will do the job very happy with this product

Big bullet

Hit my old dead oak tree with some authority. Now time to try them on some hogs. Happy hunting.

Works well

Just shot a mule deer buck yesterday with hornady 385 great plains. Deer was about 100 yds away quartering towards fairly steep uphill shot. Entered right on the shoulder, exited at last rib just under spine. Broke rib on entrance and left a golf ball size hole. Exit was about quarter size. Lungs were soup and deer just staggered around for a few seconds then fell and slid down the hill. No bloodshot meat. Only used 60 gr. of 777 loose powder.

Hornady 385 grains Great Plains Hollow points.

I shoot these with my Traditions Hawkens Woodsman 1:48 twist and with my Traditions Tracker 209 1:28 twist and they perform well. Very consistently accurate at 75 yards using Goex ffg black rifle powder.
