Description

Hornady Muzzleloading Round Balls are ideal for hunting or target shooting with your muzzleloader. These round balls are cold swaged from pure lead and are exceptionally uniform with no air pockets or voids. The smooth round surface allows for better rotation and improved accuracy.

Made for use with shooting patches. The round balls work best with slower twist rate rifles, such as 1:66 or smooth bore rifles.

.54 Caliber Round Ball - Like Them!

I have been shooting a .54 Knight MK85 for years, and always used conical bullets - Great Plains by Hornady, 435 Grain. Then, in their infinite wisdom, they stopped making them! I had a good stash of them and bought all I could find and still had some left. Don't get me wrong - the 435 Grain Great Plains shoot very well and hit super hard with 105 Grains of FFG. But, wanted to try the round balls since I take blood thinners and have low platelets (due to ongoing and now treated leukemia) and the load was too much recoil, leaving nasty bruises on my shoulder and down my arm! So - got the round balls and traditions patches and tried them out with 90 grains of FFg. Very, very pleased! Consistent accuracy, and the load is much more user-friendly. I will still use the Great Plains for Elk. But, for mule deer, I will now be shooting round balls. My shots were within 1 1/2" of the bullseye at 100 yards. Good enough for me!!
