Updated as of 10/14/2025- “Muzzleloaders are required to be a rifle or handgun of at least .40 caliber for deer, antelope, mountain lion, or wolf, using black powder or substitutes. The bullet must be a lead or expanding point bullet. Authorized ignition types are wheel lock, matchlock, flintlock, or percussion cap systems. Smokeless powder, pelletized powders, sabots(cloth patches permitted) and any sights using artificial light or batteries are not permitted. Inline rifles are permitted but they must only fire a single projectile and cannot have a barrel that is breech loaded."

- Muzzleloaders must be a minimum of .40 caliber or larger
- Muzzleloaders must fire expanding projectiles
- Muzzleloaders must use a minimum powder charge of 50-grains of black powder or black powder substitute
