New Federal™ FireStick Muzzleloader Propellent

New for 2020, the Federal® FireStick™ has garnered a lot of buzz in the muzzleloading and shooting industry. Our team was at SHOT Show to meet with many of the top brands in the industry, see the new products first hand, and find out how the new technologies will impact our sport. One of the most talked-about products is the brane New Federal FireStick muzzleloader powder charge.

Federal Ammunition created the FireStick™ in an effort to make muzzleloading safer, easier, and more precise. Gone are the days of having to weigh out individual powder charges or count pellets, you simply put the FireStick in the breech of the NitroFire and close the action. This patented technology takes the possibility of hang fires, misfires, and double powder charges completely out of the equation.

The powder in the FireStick™ was designed in conjunction with Hodgdon and will be called Triple 8. This granular powder is a completely new formula that produces higher velocities and less residue, which will have similar or even better properties than Blackhorn 209. While this product is not available outside of the FireStick™ at this time, we are optimistic that this is something that we will see in a granular form in the future.

The FireStick™ is completely sealed and the Triple 8 powder is not exposed to the elements. This means that the shelf life on these encapsulated propellents is indefinite and they will not 'stale' like other pelletized or loose powders. These charges are premeasured before they are sealed which provides an accurate and consistent shot, which is crucial in the field or on the range.
