Idaho Expands Bullet Options For Muzzleloader Season
New for 2024 the Idaho Fish and Game Commission has expanded definitions regarding what are acceptable bullets during the muzzleloader only hunting seasons. Previously the regulations stipulated that all projectiles must be comprised of 100% lead, thus limiting legal bullets to lead round balls or other cast lead bullets and the Powerbelt Pure Lead bullets.
This year Idaho has removed the “all lead” restriction to allow for other metal alloys and in doing so has expanded what bullets can be used. There remains a restriction on the diameter of the bullet diameter to prevent the use of saboted rounds during muzzleloader only hunts. All bullets must be within 0.010 inches of the bore diameter of the muzzleloader that is being used.
These exciting changes allow those hunting in Idaho to use some of the best performing muzzleloader bullets on the market. This includes Thor Bullets, Powerbelt and the new Hornady Bore Driver series bullets. Our team here at Muzzle-Loaders.com have used all of these brands and had excellent success in the field doing so.
