Description
The Pedersoli™ 1854 Lorenz Infantry Rifle is a .54 caliber percussion model that is a reproduction of the rifle manufactured in the 1850's. The rifle was conceived by the Austrian Lieutenant Joseph Lorenz and officially came into production in late 1854, replacing the Augustin rifle among Austrian soldiers. From it's induction the Lorenz Infantry Rifle established a reputation of supremacy compared with preceding rifles. The Lorenz Rifle was used during the second Italian War of Independence, as well as in the Balkans. The Lorenz was later exported to the Americas, equipping both the Union and the Confederate armies alike. The Lorenz became one of the most widely utilized rifles during the years of the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.
