Designed in the early 1800's by John Henry Derringer the pistol that would come to bear his name would become a national icon and play a tragic role in American history, as it was used in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Created by Derringer the pistol was designed to offer citizens a compact and easy to carry self-defense pistol that was both small and accurate to a short range but most importantly easy to carry on a daily basis. The pistols iconic design has a large variety of forms and barrel lengths, however, Pedersoli® has masterfully crafted the Pedersoli® Philadelphia Derringer Pistol to the original specks first drafted by John Henry Derringer.
This Pedersoli® Philadelphia Derringer Pistol comes in a beautiful hardwood case and includes a powder flask and loading ramrod for convenient storage and displays. The hardwood case features perfectly sized cutouts to accommodate the pistol, powder flask, and ramrod. Additionally, the case features brass hinges and a brass front locking mechanism for a simple yet elegant look and feel.
The Pedersoli® Philadelphia Derringer Pistol Kit comes with the originally designed 3 1/16" barrel, case hardened steel components and percussion lock and beautiful brass furnishings. The barrel is a .45 caliber smoothbore barrel that is designed to shoot a patch and ball. The percussion lock accepts a #11 percussion cap for firing. The pistol weighs an extremely light 0.54 lbs and is perfect for historical reenactments, target shooting or display.
