Description

The Investarm™ Plains Pistol Kit recreates the trapper's pistol of the mid-1800's while incorporating the best of modern steel and technology. It's the perfect companion to a Investarm black powder rifle. This percussion pistol is loaded with quality features.

The richly stained walnut stock compliments blackened iron furniture, polished brass trigger guard and ramrod tips. The hooked patent breech is taken down quickly and easily for cleaning. Just like the original Plains Pistol, the thimble is recessed into the rib and a detachable belt hook provides an alternative to using a holster. The Plains Pistol also comes standard with a fixed iron rear sight and a front iron-blade sight. The spring-loaded trigger and 9-3/4" barrel with a fast 1 in 30" twist make it remarkably accurate.

One of the best ways to get a real hands-on muzzleloading experience is to build a pistol yourself. Easy-to-read instructions guide you through the building process to a finished product. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than knowing you built a fully functional pistol for shooting or display.

Wonderful

In my early 20s, just recently got into black powder firearms, and bought this as an impulse purchase. First time I’ve built and done wood work on a gun, and it was a fun venture. Made some mistakes during the process and was definitely ill equipped for it, but I believe it turned out quite well for a beginner. As said I did mess up some things like the rear sight, which I filed down too much and it was too loose to fit. However, when I couldn’t find a replacement part to buy and emailed muzzleloaders customer support. They were able to quickly locate a replacement and courtesy shipped it free of charge and having it arrive within 3 days.

Overall fantastic product, excited for when I can find a day to go out and test fire it. I’d like to thank Muzzleloaders for being fast and a joy to talk to, god bless you guys. I look forward to my next purchase from you guys.

First rate

This company is first rate. Prompt service, ultra fast shipping, low prices. What more could you ask for? I ordered my Lyman Plains Pistol on a Friday night, and it was at my doorstep the following Wednesday morning! I highly recommend Muzzle-Loaders.com.

Accurate

I have had mine for over a year and it always gets compliments at the range. It is very accurate and a joy to shoot. I use Pyrodex or black powder and it hits the bullseye frequently at 50yds with a round ball. It's a beautiful piece of work.

Not the quality of the "Lyman" branded kit from the past.

Over the years I have built and sold maybe a dozen of these pistols made by investarms and sold under the Lyman brand. Its been close to 8 years since I did the last one. Got this kit ( could not find a Lyman branded) to be the companion to a plains rifle build. Compaired to kits from the past the inletting on this one was over sized leaving a nice gap around the perimeter of the lock plate. Barrel and tang inletting a bit deep, thank goodness for acraglass to fix these issues. The stock exterior itself was left with an abundence of extra wood for shaping. Still has the excessive warning stampings on the barrel but draw filling takes care of that mess. The last issue was the hammer need to be heated and bent out to adjust the hammer nose nipple alignment. Take your time and follow the directions using the proper tools and you will have a nice pistol.
