Florida Muzzleloader Hunting Season

Updated as of 10/1/2025 - Muzzleloading guns firing single bullets must be at least .30-caliber or larger. Muzzleloading guns firing two or more balls must be 20-gauge or larger.

Muzzleloading gun season — Only muzzleloaders fired by wheel lock, flintlock, percussion cap or centerfire primer (including 209 primers). Firearms that can be loaded from the breech are not legal during muzzleloading gun season.

  • Muzzleloaders must be .30 caliber or larger firing a single projectile
  • Muzzleloaders must be 20-gauge or larger firing two or more projectiles
  • Muzzleloaders must load from the muzzle
  • Sabots are legal
  • Telescopic sights are legal
  • Pelletized powders are legal
