How to size Thor™ Bullets to my barrel

Thor Bullet Sizing

One of the most commonly asked questions that we get is, how do I know which size of Thor bullets to order for my muzzleloader? The answer is quite simple and intuitive. First, you need to order a Thor Bullets sizing pack, which you can order here: Sizing Pack. Once you receive your sizing pack in the mail, simply follow the Thor sizing Instructions below.

There are two methods to find the best bullet fit - 10-30 pounds of pressure to push the bullet down from the muzzle end.

1. Remove breech plug

  1. Start with smallest bullet first
  2. If bullet slides down the barrel go to next size up
  3. Bullet should take 10-30 pounds of push pressure; similar to a sabot
  4. Inspect bullet to make sure there has been some grooving from the rifling on the cup.

2. Shoot sample

  1. Start with smallest bullet first
  2. If bullet slides down the barrel go to next size up
  3. Bullet should take 10-30 pounds of pus pressure; similar to a sabot
  4. Make sure bullet is seated tight against powder
