The 1841 Harpers Ferry Mississippi Rifle was considered the best looking ordnance rifle of the period and was the first US military weapon made with a percussion lock and no provision for a bayonet. Officially known as the Model 1841 U.S. percussion rifle, this firearm became known as the "Mississippi Rifle" when it was used by a regiment of Mississippians commanded by Jefferson Davis during the Mexican War.

The Pedersoli™ 1841 Mississippi Rifle is a 54 caliber percussion model that is a reproduction of the rifle manufactured at Harpers Ferry from the 1846 to the 1855. These rifles were originally made in .54 caliber, though many were later modified to .58.Officially known as the Model 1841 U.S. percussion rifle, this firearm became known as the "Mississippi Rifle" when it was used by a regiment of Mississippians commanded by Jefferson Davis during the Mexican War. The Pedersoli™ Model US 1841 Mississippi features polished brass furniture, browned 33” barrel with notched rear sight, case hardened lock and ramrod with brass tip. The lock is nicely marked with the Eagle stamp and “US” in front of the hammer.

Another 75,000 muskets were manufactured by well known companies under government contract (Remington; Robbins & Lawrence; Eli Whitney) They were also produced in limited numbers by Tryon (Philadelphia) and Palmetto Armory (South Carolina). The US 1841 was used by both sides in the US Civil War.
The Pedersoli™ 1841 Mississippi Rifle sports a one-piece European Walnut stock with satin finish and a beautiful .54 caliber tapered barrel. The 33" browned barrel features a 1:48" twist with 7 lands and 7 grooves. The Mississippi Rifle comes with blade sights (front sight - brass blade and rear sight - fixed steel). The 1841 Mississippi features brass furniture, a single trigger and an ornate casehardened lockplate marked "U.S." surmounted by American Eagle. The Pedersoli rifle also sports two barrel bands, sling swivels and a steel ramrod with brass end and 10x32 threading.
The 1841 Mississippi Rifle is a percussion model featuring a 5/16x24 nipple and uses musket caps. The recommended load for the rifle is 60 grains of FFg black powder and .530 patched round ball or a .535 minie ball. The Harpers Ferry Mississippi Rifle is made by Pedersoli™ in Italy and is 48 5/8" in overall length and weighs 9 1/2 lbs.
